Lakewood Mayor Bob Murphy visited both O’Connell Middle School and 11th Avenue Head Start for lunch on July 12! After finding out that many school sites in Jefferson County would not be offering the program this summer, Sharon Keith, Family Services Manager with the Department of Community Resources, did a wonderful job finding space for the summer feeding program in Lakewood at the 11th Avenue Head Start! Jefferson County Public School District was able to provide the food and administrative duties and Lakewood provided the site. A great partnership that resulted in a wonderful place for children to eat lunch throughout the summer. Thanks again to Metro Mayors Caucus, Catherine Marinelli and Peter Kenney, for their hard work in establishing new sites and encouraging mayors to visit.
