WHAT:

‘Tis the season for exercising your right to vote. Now through Oct. 31, people can cast a daily vote to help Hunger Free Colorado win a $50,000 nonprofit award.

The state’s leading anti-hunger organization has been selected as one of three nonprofit finalists nationwide for the Innovation in Philanthropy Award, presented by Bank of the West.

The public will select the winner of the award and $50,000 grant. Individuals can cast one vote daily through Wednesday, Oct. 31 for the charity of your choice on Facebook at www.GoWe.st/Philanthropy2012. The nonprofit organization with the most votes will win the $50,000 Philanthropy Award. The laureate will be announced at an awards celebration on Nov. 13 in San Francisco.

Of the three finalists, Hunger Free Colorado is the only nonprofit based in Colorado vying for the philanthropy award.

“We are honored to be nominated for such an award and thank Bank of the West for this opportunity,” said Kathy Underhill, executive director for Hunger Free Colorado. “The $50,000 award would allow us to further our efforts in ensuring all Coloradans gain access to nutritious, affordable food, so we hope people log-on and cast their vote for a hunger-free Colorado.”
